Good Morning, BAKERSFIELD!
I've had two cups of coffee and been up since frickin' 4:45 a.m. to get all done up for Daybreak on KBAK-TV 29. I hope you watched it because if you missed you missed some good fun. Me, Lisa and the Shoopster (I've got to come up with a name for Lisa Krsch) had a great time with the Action Folk Singer, Enrique Acosta. He told us how he got his name (wrestling match, you should ask him about it if you see him on the street.) He played two songs (including my personal favorite, "My Camaro, My Hand Gun and A Beer.")
Yeah, that was a great ditty for Christmas!
Naturally it was all WACKY because it's live TV. Hopefully I'll get a link from KBAK today and I'll post it to the site for you folks who can't wake up at 6 a.m. in the morning on Thursdays to stare at me and all my whackiness. Or for my sister Denise in Normal, Ill., one of the five people who read this blog. (Others include my long-time, high school best friend Tiffany Mapp, fellow blogger and friend Danne Hill and a bunch of other folks who don't live in California.)
No, no. I know some of you who read my blog are from the B-town. It's all cool. I love you too!
Look, like go out and grab a copy of The Californian to get your entertainment scoop. WOTS has got some stuff on Chris Truitt (formerly of The Cobbs), about being drunk at Fishlips and her usual witty banter about what to do and who to see.
Also, make sure you check out Friday's Eye section where you can read all about my Q&A with blues legend Bobby "Blue" Bland. He's playing the Fox Saturday night. I hope he sings "I Pity the Fool." I love the part where he wails-cries-screams:

LOOK AT THE PEOPLE!
I BET YOU WONDER WHAT THEIR DOING!
THEY'RE JUST STANDING THERE!
WATCHING YOU MAKE A FOOL OUT OF ME!

That's just good, good stuff. He's my mother's favorte Blues / R&B artist. (When I told him this he said to tell my Mama he said, "Hello!") And he's a super nice guy. It was like interviewing my Grandpa!
I miss my Grandpa. He died in 2001. Whenever my parents would be mad at me he'd tell me that I was good looking, just like him. My mother's father, he was a short, dark skinned black man with a sweet little peanut head. Once opon a time he was apparently a tough guy. But he was just a big softy to me (who liked to argue). He did it until he couldn't argue any more, "on account of my heart" as he would say to the annoyance of my Granny who also loves to argue.
Granny's still "kickin'" as she would say and arguing with people. I LOVE MY GRANNY! Like all the women on my mother's side of the family (including me) she's CRAZY. But in a good way. She wants me to go on "Wheel of Fortune" so she can see me on the TV.
That ain't happening.
